Behaviors that often predict divorce in Florida

On Behalf of Divorce For Men | May 18, 2023 | Divorce

Men who experience divorce in Florida can feel trauma, heartbreak and stress. Few people enter into a happy marriage expecting it to end in divorce. However, some factors predict when a marriage is at risk of falling apart.

Domestic violence

Sexual, emotional, physical and verbal abuse within a marriage often predicts divorce. The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence reports that 1 in 9 men experience intimate partner physical violence. Victims of this abuse may feel divorce is often the only means of escape.

Poor communication

Good communication is essential for the success of a marriage. The inability to communicate leads to conflict and other problems that can end a marriage. It’s impossible to have a successful marriage if you can’t maintain a healthy and stable relationship.

Infidelity

Extramarital affairs strain a marriage. Not only can it create emotional turmoil, but it can also destroy trust. Both emotional and physical fidelity can cause a divorce.

Physical infidelity is when a person engages in a sexual affair. And emotional infidelity is when someone forms a strong emotional connection with someone outside of the marriage. Emotional infidelity often occurs through online social media, sexting or texting.

Financial problems

Some divorces occur because of heavy debt, overspending and constantly arguing about money. Finance problems are more likely to lead to divorce when both partners have different core values about money.

Addiction

Addiction to drugs, alcohol, sex and gambling can negatively affect a marriage. The emotional trauma, instability and stress caused by addiction are often difficult to overcome.

The above situations don’t always end in divorce. Some couples can overcome these challenges with commitment and effort. They also might seek professional marriage counseling or other help resolving their issues.
